quietish day yesterday ..... didn't fancy doing too much after that bloody trip in the drydock's truck.
Decided to have a go at a niggling problem with my generator. It's a 6Kw Stephill barrow type generator with a tiny built in battery which takes a beating and doesn't last long.
Decided to upgrade by putting an external battery box on it's bed with a much larger battery. (I had the battery box as the generator I removed a couple of months back had an external battery so the box was going spare)
The bigger battery would mean that it matches all the other lead acid batteries in the engine room (engine start batteries, swing lift crane battery and emergency lighting battery)
New leads needed to be made to let them reach the new battery (not much longer sods law, the originals were only a few inches too short !!!)
Nice simple job with no hassles ..... just what I needed to start getting back into doing things after the holidays

Serious day on the marina yesterday, CRT ‘snatch squad’ lifting out a 40ft non mover and a 23ft yogurt pot non payer… Perhaps issues requiring Mr Dunkley’s input to ensure the boaters never see their boats again?🙄 He would've but, just as Clarke Kent needs a phone box to change in, Tony needs a boat cabin. He's been stunned by Crtonite too. What a waste.

Engine room project still proceeding, slowly but steadily. Outputs from charger fuseboard installed and cables cleated slight snafu in that I installed 20mm flexible conduit then discovered that the run to the output sockets was too small meant I had to open up the 20mm hole in the fuseboard to 25mm which with a holesaw with no centre drill hole to guide it can sometimes have an unfortunate result ..... it went smoothly this time without the cutter skating about and making a mess.
Wish all the problem I have had in the engine room had been as quickly and easily corrected
Another job yesterday was removing the tarpaulins from the logs on deck. Two had been turned literally into tatters by the gale. The third one was fine as it seems to be a much better quality one. The other two were cheapies from Machine Mart. (the better one came from the Tug company to replace one of mine they used.) I will have to ask where it came from.
I re-arranged the logs to be mostly covered by the remaining cover .... they have been going down at a fairly rapid rate Due to one thing or another I haven't been out on a log hunt for quite some time.
Shore power still off .... but I did tell the owner that any time in the next few days would do I can be self reliant if I need to be .... but shore power is convenient instead of occasionally running the genny (although had quite good solar yesterday I noticed about 360w going in at one point )

To-days plans are once again dog walking... I'm also going to 'play' with that AI app if I can(dunno how son managed to use it but I will see), I'm really intrigued by its potential.. Is it the death of creativity or an aid? Son sent link to the guardian article but then I saw it in the Times... defo one to waste time over

This board was originally the only electrical board in the engine room but this is it now SAM_3900 by mudlarker, on Flickr when you consider that most of what is on this second board was either squeezed on there or was needing to be squeezed on there you can see why I thought is neccessary to add this second board SAM_3903 by mudlarker, on Flickr and this is the control area in the stairwell from the wheelhouse SAM_3902 by mudlarker, on Flickr I finally feel I am getting closer to completion
