It's been so deathly quiet here of late that I've taken to viewing thunderboat and CWDF where a number of posters I used to enjoy chatting with still dwell and contribute, including thebfg our very own admin . The recent events at Bradford on Avon have generated much discussion, where finally after 12 years of ongoing issues, C&RT have seized their moment and removed Mr Ward's boat from their waters. It is always sad to see a 62 year old person made homeless of course, but the simple fact remains that had he licensed and regularly moved his boat's, he would not be in the position he now is (and his position has been 12 years in the making). Having paid many thousands of pounds to C&RT over my 19 years of boat ownership, I can't help feeling slightly reassured that conformity was the right choice and that failure to do so comes with serious (if delayed) consequence. There's been no comment here. I wondered what people thought ... indeed if anyone actually reads here anymore 😁 Rog

I am still here, I like the peace here .. be good if we got more posters but it is as it is I rarely post over there, the toxicity sickens. I just cannot believe after all this time the vitriol is still as active. As to what happened to Mr Ward, it's sad and I hope he gets rehomed but if he didn't pay his dues then he must take the consequences of his actions. I think the 12 years of not bothering becomes a mind set

It’s fine to identify as a free spirit but life isn’t free, we all have a responsibility to look after ourselves to the best of our ability. If our ability falls short then we have to accept the help that is offered. No one should be able to disobey the rules and expect to get away with it. Taking money raised to mend his boat and allow him to comply with the rules and not using it for its intended purpose is where I think Mr Ward lost public sympathy.

I'm here, I've been back there and have noticed that it's calmed down, even the stabby v Tony thing has come down a few pegs.
Having boated local to it, I've followed the drama for quite a few years, so decided to join in and as you say it's been nice to chat to old friends.
I still see its difficult to have a theoretical discussion but hey, I tried. And there's me thinking it was just Ross that couldn't.

For the avoidance of doubt. George was always going to lose his boats eventually.
Whilst I agree he probably should have a restricted moving pattern based on disability he hadn't actually moved anywhere.
But it's important to note that he was licensed up to very recently and this time they actually moved quite quickly.
You may have to wonder that had he been able to get fully comp insurance he would have had his boat repaired and still be boating.

As with Dunkley, Mr Ward has made a concerted effort to get his boat's seized and removed.
It can't happen accidentally whilst you're not paying attention ... many hours of communication and effort are taken to reach the point of being seized and removed ... this was true in Dunkley's case just as much as in Mr Ward's.
I'd much prefer boat owners keep their boats and C&RT expend their efforts in more productive areas, however it's the boat owners that make the choice ... C&RT merely have to act where unavoidable.

Whilst I agree with your sentiments and if you comply with the law you won't get bothered.
Is it a case of Mr Ward being naughty for 12years(guess) and CRT just went through the motions or was it that he did comply with everything they asked for 10 years but in the last 2 years CRt decided to take the easy option and get rid?
After all he has been licenced during that period so CRT must have agreed with him at some level.
It seems there was compromise but with Tony there was none.

I'm afraid Mr Ward just didn't move at all ... he really put a lot of effort into getting C&RT to act.
Dunkley used to boast on CWDF and latterly on thunderboat that C&RT had been in dispute with him for more than five years ... he too worked hard to get his boat's removed.

If he didn't move at all why did CRT keep licencing his boat?
Wasn't Tony's delayed due to CRT waiting on a verdicts on a simular case and onve they had that verdict started the drum rolling.
