I'll have to post a public apology, I'm still getting used to the proboard software.
It all comes down to the default settings when first starting the forum, which is not John's fault. Having the tick box for making guests log in, ticked, really did mask quite a lot.
I'll have to say I didn't actually know letting visitors post was an option, well I sort of did but expected it to be a global option, which I hadn't found so didn't think about it.
Each board has many settings to allow certain people to do certain things, there is an everybody option. I never though it literally applied to everyone, but now knowing, its kind of simple.
What's annoying and very frustrating is those options are what I had been using to make the members only option. It had been staring at me in the face all the time.
When I viewed as a visitor, I just made sure I could see what I should see and not what I shouldn't. It's time to go into every board and see what it says the permissions are set to as a visitor and as a member.
It is so much easier to problem solve than fix an issue we weren't aware off.
The big question now is I don't know what Tony posted, but having found the loophole did he use it as a chance to to be nice and show what his intentions are in wanting to join or did he use to post rubbish?
And thanks to Fi for helping John.

Not as deliberately provocative as usual but remember that a leopard can't change its spots.

Would it be less work for you two to just throw the doors open, and remove any who don't play by your rules ?
Thanks for your efforts anyway ... know you both have better things to do 👍

I'm quite happy doing work on the forum, even if it involves lots of learning. Having to moderate full time, is not something I'll ever look forward to.🙂
You make Ana interesting point though.

I'm sorry any moderation is necessary ... but sadly it is.

I recalled reading his post and was a little surprised, but I can't say I saw anything contentious in it. Anyway, if the door is now closed, then the potential problems go away.
