Right .... go number 2
A slow week since my last update, grouted the tiling and then set to work replacing the rest of the floor in the saloon.
It was originally laid in 25mm marine ply but there was one area where there had been a cabinet that was open.
I wasn't going to fork out on 25mm marine ply to make that bit ... at least not at the price it is nowadays.
I didn't want to use a different material in the saloon area so I stole a section from the bedroom.
The flooring in that area will have to be totally redone when I get to it.
At least there I will be able to use something different (and cheaper) in one large area to keep it the same.

After a lot of havering I decided where I was going to get the new ply I needed and ordered it
(delivery quoted 1 - 3 days) While I was waiting on that I varnished the wooden lift out panel beside the oven
and fitted a ring pull.
(proper fiddly job, originally was going to use a handle but when I stood it in place it looked rubbish)
then worked out the dimensions of all the pillars and sorted through the ply I had taken down for anything that would fit.
Built the frame for the end bulkhead and then just pottered waiting for the delivery.
Thursday was a decent day here and I got a bit of sorting out done in the container and some clearing.
Friday I was on tenterhooks waiting for the ply delivery, looking over my shoulder at the clouds.
It arrived after lunch and I got 5 sheets into the container for storage, one sheet on the workbench (outside on quay)
and the second stood next to it. I was hoping to get the panel for the large bulkhead between the stove and sitting area,
the side panels for the next two pillars all of which I had measured out.
I just finished cutting out the big panel when the first rain drops hit me, I hurled the panel and the end cuts through the wheelhouse door and got the second sheet into the container.
By then it was chucking it down and I still had to collect all the tools.
Circular saw, clamps, measures, cables were by then soaked, as was I.
Spent the next half hour cleaning drying and WD40ing everything .... Oh how I laughed !!!
Thank goodness the big panel fitted perfectly,

As I can't cut any more panels until we have a bit of a dry spell I mostly pottered, trying out various combinations of dyes and varnishes to find a combination that doesn't clash too much with the original
Got the stove put in place and fitted the hardwood surround to the tiles, that just needs a line of grout around the edge and varnishing ... tomorrows job I think ... it must be beer-o'clock by now.
I'm going to press "post" I dread to think what will happen if it eats this one as well
forgot to add this picture
