I have had a productive day re-arranging my battery bank on the domestic side, I have a 24 volt system which comprised of 6 Lifepo4 batteries, in S3 P3 it didnt work! all the batteries were out of kilter with each other but balanced internally!! Anyway they are now P3 S2 with a bank balancer on them, it’s telling me what I know and hopefully doing something about it, i should know in a few days. However the cables on this balancer are so short that it’s on my knees and bum in the air to read it! Longer wires to be added later methinks as it something I want to keep an eye on One or two of our members might encourage your keeping the cables short…

Is there anybody on here who's knowledgeable with boat values/ pricing. I've been looking on apolloduck/ebay/et al and can't fathom how people come by their asking price.

Broker said Loddon should sell for £57-59k it's 30 years old but in good nick. We shall see once it goes on the market in May/June. I'm sure some figures are just plucked out of thin air. I've had boaters in our marina reckon Loddon is worth £65k+ but I can't see that. Are you pricing yours to sell it?

Yes, I'm not wanting to be greedy but not wanting to put the price too low(always suspicious of cheap boats/cars/bikes etc). Problem is there's no brokers up here to judge prices by. Local mechanic mentioned £1k per foot which seems a bit excessive.

Is there anybody anywhere who has any idea of a boat's value?? Sorry to hear you're selling greenman. I had my first survey (naughty, silly me - I bought this boat just over 4 years ago in a panic and on gut instinct and couldn't add the cost of hauling out at the time) last year when I did my blacking. It was valued at well over 150% of what I paid. Admittedly, I have spent some time and money but ...

But that seems the nature of the beast with boats, bikes & cars. I have ideas and plans, but to do that means selling the boat. However if Greenman doesn't sell plan B is to move it to the North of England. Few more things to do first, then I'll see what happens.

It all sounds a bit complicated but good luck with whatever you choose to do! Thank you. Hopefully not complicated, I'm a simple soul.

Whoever tells you that things going wrong happen in threes ...... is a liar !!! Its a hell of a lot more than three !!! Apart from final trim fittings around the carpet, I have finished putting the insulation/flooring/walls/new battery bank for the winch and all the junk (stores of spares) in the forward cabin, About half five this morning I was woken by strange noises, it sounded like tarpaulins being dragged or something scraping on the hull. Pulling on some trousers I went on deck to see what the hell it was ....... nothing to see at all !!! muttering I went back down ..... the noises were louder and there was also what sounded like an occasional water drip I realised that the sound was coming from the cabinet containing the hot water tank (when I had been up in the middle of the night I had switched on the immersion for a shower in the morning .... after all I was on shore power) There is a quick remove panel in the corridor that exposes plumbing and part of the water tank, after a quick peek I left sharply. turned off the immersion and shot into the bathroom to turn the tap to hot and full on ..... standing well clear. There was first a burst of high pressure coloured water followed by steam .... lots of steam ..... lots of very high pressure steam !!! .... lots and lots of very high pressure steam going on and on ...... It continued for ages there was condensation dripping off ceilings in the bathroom/corridor/fwd cabin etc I am not exaggerating to say there was a layer of steam a foot thick all the way along the corridor ceiling and into the rooms at each end If I had been decorating and wanted wallpaper stripping ....... I would not have believed it was possible to generate that quantity of steam like that ..... I hate to think what the temperature/pressure was inside the tank (and also what would have happened if I had not intervened) The thermostat on the immersion had failed in the "on" position which of course can happen. However the temperature/over pressure valve should have operated ..... but didn't !!! So TWO faults at the same time !!! I am very impressed that the tank didn't split ..... it must have been vastly over it's pressure rating all the bits are 20 plus years old and the tank is a domestic one not a boat one I got all the "oh you must buy* a marine tank domestic ones won't take the pressure/vibration etc" I looked at the price of the boat ones against domestic and thought "nuts" and spoke to a manufacturer. I told them what I needed and they just said "Oh that's no problem, just use one of the heavier duty ones for areas with very high water main pressure" .... looks like he was dead right although I can't say the same for the pressure relief valve maker ripping out that area of the boat and re-designing and redoing is looking more and more a certainty

Interesting the comment from the manufacturer. Water pressure at home before the regulator is 10bar it had no regulator before I moved in. The house was built in 1986 and still had the original hot tank. Strikes me that 10bar is slightly higher than boat water system pressure. Regulator drops it to 2.5-3bar
