I've treated our little caravan to a new 50ah lifepo battery. Concerned about charging. I have bought a battery charger for mains charging, but there is a charger in the caravan and also it will charge from car when towing. There are 2 live 12v from car. A battery live and a charging live. I have ordered a b2b gubbins from Ali express, to connect the charging live from car and the charger live from caravan between the battery and the feeds. Would I need a diode between the live feed back from the battery to caravan circuit to stop any connection from car (the other live from car battery) charging the lifepo battery. I've currently got the Cara charger turned off and probably best to disconnect charged battery when towing until I've sorted it out. I could conjure up a drawing if needed.

I am a little confused Jim? Have you replaced the caravan battery charger in its entirety? I take it the B2B is really just a voltage regulator to cap the voltage going into the caravan battery?

I have bought a mains battery charger with selectable battery options, there is also the original charger in the caravan, probably not very sohisticated. There is also a charge wire from car that charges when towing and a live to draw from car battery when not towing. Yes the b2b gubbins is to correct the voltage into lipofe.

I thought the other live was for the fridge? or it was on mine, as for the original charger yes remove it for safety and use the selectable charger you know it makes sense

The real answer is yes, once you have your gizmo installed no, in reality its a long thin wire voltage drop will happen but how much did your battery cost? and do you want to risk it?
